Haer family donation will fund interdisciplinary science research at Thiel College

Thiel College alumni Fred Haer ’65 and his wife, Jill (Shackett) Haer ’66, have pledged more than $400,000 to fund the Greenville Neuromodulation Center (GNC) Faculty/Student Research Institute.

Six valedictorians and a salutatorian recognized during 141st Commencement

Seven members of the Thiel College Class of 2015 earned valedictorian and salutatorian honors at the 141st Commencement, which was held on May 3 in the College’s William A. Passavant Memorial Center.

Track groundbreaking, historic wrestling team announcement part of Athletics Reunion Weekend

More than 160 attendees are expected for the Thiel College Athletics Reunion Weekend on May 29-30. The track and field groundbreaking, Hall of Fame inductions and historic announcement regarding the wrestling program are among the event's highpoints.

Reunion weekend begins at 9 a.m. Friday, May 29 with the annual Blue-Gold Golf Outing at the Greens of Greenville. The event, which drew 112 participants last year, raises money for the College's 24 varsity athletics programs. The reunion dinner is at 6 p.m. Friday at the Lutheran Heritage Room and is followed by a happy hour.

Attendees will get an athletics program update from Athletics Director Jack Leipheimer '74 and other coaches at 9 a.m. Saturday, May 30 at the Stamm Lecture Hall. The new track and field facility will have its groundbreaking at 11:30 a.m. The 35th Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony is at 4 p.m. and will include historic news for the athletics program.

The Thiel College Athletics Hall of Fame induction class is: John Castaldo '70 (football), Randy Chiquelin '04 (baseball), Tracy (Henderson) Orner '01 (softball, basketball, track & field), Jim Kick '82 (football) and longtime wrestling coach Mark Vennis

YouTube campaign helps spread Thiel College's transfer friendly message 


A video produced at the James Pedas Communication Center outlining the success story of transfer student Jermaine Hamilton '15 is being promoted the College's first YouTube advertising campaign.

The video is the latest in a series of digital marketing firsts for the College, including a Pandora online radio campaign.

Pre-mortuary science students get look at PIMS

Thiel College pre-mortuary science students Kaleigh Tautkus, Lydia Stroul, Joseph Barnett, Matthew Tait, Kodee Cardillo, Bri Walkup, Carlee Jones, Samantha Duty, Erin Marchand, Michael Geramita, Jocelyn Gula, Hogan Zegarelli, Alexis Hadgigeorgiou, Zeb Thone and Dawn Pastorius took an orientation trip to the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science (PIMS) on April 21.

Students who attend Thiel College for at least five semesters before moving on for three trimesters at PIMS graduate with a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in business adminstration and a diploma in funeral directing/embalming.

Franley awarded Cleveland Panhellenic Association scholarship

Audra Franley '17, of Jefferson, Ohio and a member of the Chi Omega sorority at Thiel College, is one of the students receiving a $2,000 scholarship from the Cleveand Alumnae Panhellenic Association. 

The Cleveland Alumnae Panhellenic Association awards several scholarship grants each year to deserving sorority women whose home residence is in the counties of Cuyahoga, Geauga, Lake, Lorain, Medina, Portage, Summit and Ashtabula.

Thiel College says hello to ...

DocuCenter holiday schedule and summer hours

The Docucenter will be closed Friday and Monday for the Memorial Day weekend. Summer hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

AVI Lunch Schedule

AVI will offer a daily lunch special for those on campus. Meals are served buffet style and are served from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Cost is $5.50 per person. Bistro menu items are not available.

Relay for Life Raffle

Relay for Life is sponsoring a Visa gift card raffle. First place wins a $2,500 gift card, second place wins a $1,500 gift card, and third place wins a $1,000 gift card. Raffle tickets cost $10 each. The winner will be drawn July 1.
