GREENVILLE, Pa.— Thiel College will renew a Presidents’ Athletic Conference rivalry with a nearby-neighbor with the announcement that Allegheny College will be rejoining the conference, effective July 1, 2022.

Allegheny was previously a member of the PAC from 1958 to 1984. The College fields 23 varsity athletic teams. The College will retain its current affiliation as a full-time member of the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) until June 30, 2022. As a founding member of the NCAC, Allegheny has competed in the league since its inception in 1984. Allegheny intends to remain an affiliate member of the NCAC in the sport of field hockey after that time, as the PAC does not currently sponsor the sport.

“We look forward to the outstanding competitions that will take place with Allegheny as part of the PAC. The two colleges have so much in common. This is an outstanding opportunity for Thiel and the conference,” Thiel College Director of Athletics Amy Schafer said.

Located in Meadville, Pa., Allegheny College will be the third school in the PAC that is less than a 30-mile drive from Thiel College.

The Tomcats and Gators are scheduled to play in the opening football game this season, at Allegheny on September 4.
