GREENVILLE, Pa.—Members of Kappa Sigma fraternity at Thiel College are riding a 25-foot metal see-saw near the intersection of routes 18 and 58 nonstop today through Sunday to collect money for the Military Heroes Campaign.

Twenty-four members of the fraternity will work shifts during the fundraising drive. In the last two years, Kappa Sigma members at Thiel College have raised more than $6,000 for the Military Heroes campaign, philanthropy chair Mak Sanders ’21 said. This is the 24th consecutive year for the event.

“The brothers of Kappa Sigma are excited and honored to have this opportunity to give back to the brave men and women who defend us and give us opportunities here at home. We can never fully repay them for their service, but we hope this little bit helps,” said Sanders, a 2017 graduate of Newbury (Ohio) High School. “What never ceases to amaze us is the commitment and generosity from the wider Greenville community.”

Created in 2007, the Military Heroes Campaign honors and aids thousands of military veterans and their families in communities throughout the United States and Canada. Since its inception, the campaign has donated more than $1 million to non-profit organizations that advocate on behalf of servicemen and women and those wounded in combat.

Charitable service is an important part of the mission of each fraternity and sorority at Thiel College, a leading liberal arts college in northwest Pennsylvania. Annually, Greek fundraising efforts donate thousands of dollars to charities such as the American Red Cross, Autism Speaks, the Pittsburgh Children’s Hospital, Adopt-A-Highway and many others.
