GREENVILLE, Pa.—Pacific Crest Drum and Bugle Corps will perform a rehearsal at Thiel College's Alumni Stadium at Stoeber Field before departing Tuesday afternoon.
Pacific Crest arrived at Thiel College on Sunday evening. The group participated in the Lake Erie Fanfare in Edinboro, Pa. on Monday evening, where they finished third.
The next stop for Pacific Crest is the Drum Corps International World Championships, which begin Thursday in Indianapolis.
Pacific Crest is one of North America’s most respected performing arts programs. It began in 1993 with 33 students, but today reaches 3,900 students each year. At the heart of the program is the Drum and Bugle Corps, one of the nation’s foremost ensembles of its kind.
Drum and bugle corps (often simply referred to as “drum corps”), are specialized marching bands. They operate as independent nonprofits (no school affiliation), and perform on-field competitions, parades, and other civic functions.
Pacific Crest is made up of 150 performers (selected by audition), and its summer season includes a two-month tour of 25 performances throughout the United States.
As a member of Drum Corps International, a nonprofit organization that serves as the sanctioning body for the activity, Pacific Crest competes in World Class, the highest competitive division in DCI. They represent the City of Diamond Bar and the Southern California Region as one of 22 teams in the Marching Music’s Major Leagues.
