GREENVILLE, Pa.—The Thiel College chapter of Kappa Sigma fraternity brought its fourth annual 9/11 stair climb to honor the first responders of 9/11 and those who died during the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks to campus.

According to event organizers, more than 150 people participated and a small amount of donations were collected. For the first time, participants walked the 110 flights of stairs in the bleachers of Alumni Stadium at Stoeber Field from noon to 4 p.m. Monday. The previous three events had been held at the Graul Amphitheater in Riverside Park.

First responders and community members were invited.

Event organizers welcomed participants and held a moment of silence at the beginning of the event. Free grilled hot dogs and other light refreshments were available at the event.

“We (were) raising awareness for and honoring those fallen on 9/11 as well as the first responders and veterans who served before and after 9/11 and (raised) money for the Military Heroes Campaign,” Kappa Sigma member Keagan Landfried ’25 said.

Kappa Sigma created the Military Heroes Campaign in 2007. The campaign serves as their philanthropy. The campaign honors and aids thousands of military veterans and their families in communities throughout the U.S. and Canada. Since its inception, the campaign has donated over $1 million to non-profit organizations that advocate on behalf of servicemen and women and those wounded in combat.
