GREENVILLE, Pa.—The Thiel College Office of Communications and Marketing was recently recognized for a strategic communication collaboration with the Department of Athletics by a regional communications organization.

Thiel College was awarded silver recognition for the “Energize” campaign in Communication Outreach materials for athletics by The College and University Public Relations and Associated Professionals at its annual conference in March. The “Energize” campaign created a Tomcat Playbook that profiled each of the 24 varsity sports on campus and provided information on the coaching staff, a testimonial from a current athlete or recent graduate and overviews of historical accomplishments, campus facilities and general information.

Vice President for Communications and Marketing Richard Orr said the campaign was the culmination of teamwork between staff members and coaches and the dedication of student project coordinator Kelly Clark ’23.

The College and University Public Relations and Associated Professionals is an organization of professionals from colleges, universities, and independent schools devoted to enhancing the professional development of its members and advancing the understanding of higher education. The competition featured hundreds of entries from various colleges, universities, agencies, and providers of private, specialized, and secondary education. The judging panel included professionals in the communications field, encompassing designers, writers, educators, corporate executives, and media experts.

In 2023, Thiel College received three gold medals and two silver medals from the Collegiate Advertising Awards, Educational Advertising Awards, and the College and University Public Relations and Associated Professionals.

This is the seventh time in nine years the Office of Communications and Marketing has been recognized by The College and University Public Relations and Associated Professionals organization for content, print collateral or campaigns it has created.
