GREENVILLE, Pa.—Thiel College is hosting the domestic premiere and panel discussion for the highly anticipated movie “SpookT” on Friday, September 22.

“SpookT” is set in Greenville, Pa. and was filmed in and around the region. The movie unveils the hidden mysteries of Greenville. The movie has already gained international attention with its premiere in London, and it now eagerly makes its debut in the United States at Thiel College.

The panel discussion is at 1 p.m. Friday in Stamm Lecture Hall in the James Pedas Communication Center. The event will feature Director Tony Reames, Producer Tymm Hoffman, filmmaker Vanessa Ionta Wright, and cast members Haley Leary, Christen Sharice, and Dana Schroyer. Also in attendance will be Thiel student Marcus Hernandez ’24 and alumna Samantha DiBucci ’23, both of whom played roles in the movie’s production. Moderating the discussion will be Thiel College Assistant Professor of Communications and Chair of the Department of Media, Communication, and Public Relations, Matthew Humphrey, who also contributed to the film.

“Working on SpookT was a blessing. (Director Tony Reames) taught me and Marcus how to use a camera that practically costs as much as a nice car. I learned how to work with a crew (and) move fast,” DiBucci said. “Not only did Tony have a large heart, but so did the rest of the crew. I remember actress Haley Leary pulling me aside to tell me to be more confident. Her words meant a lot to me. The crew made me feel seen and accepted. The experiences I got in my field and in general—life—are something that I will never forget.”

Following the panel discussion will be a premiere of the movie at 2:30 p.m. in Bly Hall of the Academic Center.

The movie features Academy Award nominee Eric Roberts. The director is the son of Mary Reames, who served as a faculty member in the College's Department of Education from 2006 to 2019.

The panel discussion, which promises insightful insights and behind-the-scenes stories, is free and open to both the campus community and the public.
