GREENVILLE, Pa.—Accomplished Christian hip-hop artist Aitina Fareed-Cooke, who uses the name A.I. The Anomaly on stage, will be performing at Thiel College on Wednesday and then returning a few days later to talk about using creativity to deal with trauma.

Sponsored by Thiel’s Department of Media, Communication, and Public Relations, Fareed-Cooke’s performance at 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 22 in the Lutheran Heritage Room of the Howard Miller Student Center will combine original poetry and hip-hop to illustrate stories of endurance through hardship. She will also highlight how the arts can be used to heal, motivate, inform, ignite, and inspire change, as she shares personal stories of trauma and triumph. An artist talk will follow the performance, giving audience members the opportunity to ask questions and go into a deeper discussion with Fareed-Cooke. The concert is free and open to the public.

Fareed-Cooke has shared the stage with critically acclaimed artists, including Grammy Award winner Lecrae, and has been recognized by National Young Audiences Emerging Leaders, DJ Booth, and Trackstarz magazines. She was the creative director and executive producer for three of her full-length albums: “Sever Threads,” “BLKNVS,” and “Soul’s Acrylic.” Outside of her musical career, she is also an entrepreneur, an educator, and an award-winning photographer with her own photography and film company, Get Fokus’d Productions. Heavily involved with non-profit organizations, she hopes to impact the next generation by providing opportunities for young entrepreneurs and emerging artists and by inspiring people to expand their perspectives and commit to their crafts.

Fareed-Cooke will return to Thiel at noon Friday, March 24 to present a keynote lecture about creating art and video media out of stories of trauma and hardships.
