GREENVILLE, Pa.—The Thiel College community will come together Tuesday, March 3, for the 13th annual one-day fundraising campaign, Match Day, which recognizes, energizes and celebrates Thiel supporters around the world.
This year’s on-campus events will take place on the Maenpa Family Court at Beeghly Gym and will feature the theme “Game, Set, Match,” highlighting the collective effort that turns individual gifts into a winning match for student success and institutional growth.
Match Day is a signature Thiel College tradition that emphasizes the power of participation and philanthropy. Throughout the day, alumni, parents, faculty, staff, students and friends are encouraged to give, engage and celebrate a shared commitment to strengthening the College’s mission. Matching challenges will amplify the impact of each contribution, reinforcing the idea that when the Tomcat community rallies together, everyone benefits. Opening ceremonies will be held in the gym at 9 a.m. The celebration will continue during the lunch hour with games and food for the campus community.
The “Game, Set, Match” theme builds on the friendly competition generated during Match Day through affinity-group challenges designed to unlock additional funds. Most challenges will be based on donor participation and will highlight graduates by decade; athletic teams; choir, band and theatre participants; fraternities and sororities; and other affinity groups in engaging and competitive ways.
Match Day 2025 continued the event’s record-setting momentum, reaching a new milestone with 676 donors contributing $215,649 to the College. Since 2014, Match Day has raised more than $2.1 million for Thiel College. All funds raised support The Thiel Fund, which helps address operational needs and financial gaps not covered by tuition alone, including academic programming, need-based scholarships, athletics, music, theatre, campus improvements and areas of greatest need.
“Match Day highlights the care and generosity of the Thiel community, including alumni, employees, parents and friends of the College,” Thiel Fund Director David Mogle said. “Each gift — starting at $5 — helps complete Match Day challenges and, most importantly, makes a positive impact on our students. Through this event, we also hope to educate current students about philanthropy so they can pay it forward and continue the strong tradition of Tomcats supporting Tomcats.”
