Celebrity chef appearing in National Society of Leadership and Success speaker series video at Thiel

GREENVILLE, Pa.—Celebrity chef Carla Hall speaks at 7 p.m. Oct. 23 in the Stamm Lecture Hall of the James Pedas Communication Center as part of a broadcast event sponsored by the College’s chapter of The National Society of Leadership and Success.

Hall stars in the ABC daily talk show/cooking show, “The Chew.” She co-hosts the show alongside Michael Symon, Daphne Oz and Clinton Kelly. Hall also makes guest television appearances on shows such as “The Dr. Oz Show,” “Good Morning America,” “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” and “Chelsea Lately.”

Hall made her culinary debut in 2008 when she starred as a candidate in the fifth season of Bravo’s reality competition series “Top Chef.” She finished as a runner up to celebrity chef Hosea Rosenberg. She was asked back for “Top Chef: All-Stars, Season 8.” That season she also won the votes for the “Fan Favorite” award, beating previous winner.

A Howard University graduate, Hall is a member of the James Beard Foundation’s Women's Leadership Advisory Committee and speaks frequently on the subjects of women's empowerment, leadership and equality. She is active with a number of charities and not-for-profit organizations that reflect her passion for causes close to her heart. Such organizations include Helen Keller International, an organization that works to improve the lives of those with blindness, and to prevent the causes and consequences of blindness, poor health, and malnutrition.

Hall is the Culinary Ambassador for Sweet Home Cafe at the Smithsonian National Museum for African American History and Culture in Washington, DC.

Hall is also a successful businesswoman. She opened her catering business, Alchemy Caterers, in 2001. Since then, the company has evolved in to an artisan cookie company, renamed Alchemy by Carla Hall.
