GREENVILLE, Pa.—The Thiel College women’s empowerment and advocacy group, Women Inspiring the Next Generation, hosts their annual leadership conference from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 21 as part of their celebration of Women’s History Month.

The conference benefits female high school students from more than 40 regional high schools in Pennsylvania and Ohio.

Girls in their junior and senior years are invited to the College for the day to learn about the importance of education and how to be leaders in their communities. This is the seventh year Thiel is hosting the event. Students from 48 schools were invited and about 30 students will be in attendance.

This year’s conference will take place in the College’s main class building, the Academic Center and in select other campus locations. The students will engage in activities, listen to speakers, and enjoy lunch with the women from the organization.

“One of the main goals of this event is to inspire them [the girls] to be leaders in anything that they do and to always strive to be the best versions of themselves,” WING President Shyann Foreman ’20 said. “As an organization, we are always excited to host this event because it is a time for all of us to come together and host an event that is very near to all of our hearts. We strive to help any girl in need and to inspire them to do the same in the long run.”

About Women Inspiring the Next generation

Women Inspiring the Next Generation, also known as WING, is an all-women organization on campus that promotes friendships, empowers women through cultural and community affairs, and fosters respect and responsibility for the entire Thiel College community. The organization encourages community service through activities that support the needs of the local and global communities. WING has recently become more inclusive by electing several “WINGmen,” who are male students on campus that assist the organization with events and participate in meetings. The symbol for the organization, a butterfly, represents WING’s mission to empower women to spread their wings and fly to new heights in their lives and in the world.
