GREENVILLE, Pa.—The Thiel College community is deeply saddened as we have been informed of a tragic accident. First-year student Donel Wheeler II, of East Stroudsburg, Pa., was killed in a motor vehicle crash early Saturday morning.
“We send our condolences to the family, friends and others who knew and loved him,” said Vice President for Student Life and Dean of Students Mike McKinney Ed.D. ’02. “We share deeply in your pain and loss.”
As part of Thiel’s postvention practice, college staff have reached out to the family to assist them through this difficult time.
The family has created to a gofundme page to help with funeral costs.
“This is a time of great sorrow for the entire Thiel community. Please know that there are services and staff available to support you during this time of grief,” McKinney said.
Counselors and other staff will be available in their offices from 10:30 a.m. to 5 m., Saturday, March 2, 2024. Students are encouraged to stop in or call 724-589-2359 during those times. For support outside of those hours, please contact Public Safety at 724-589-2222. Public Safety is available 24-hours a day, seven days a week, and they can connect you with any needed support.
