For Immediate Release: April 7, 2008 TOMCAT GOLFERS HOST THIEL INVITATIONAL GREENVILLE, Pa. (April 7) -- The Thiel College golf teams hosted the Thiel Invitational Monday afternoon at The Greens of Greenville. The men's team from Notre Dame College took home the title at the six-team event with a score of 316 while the women's team earned a dual match win against Notre Dame 506-599. Waynesburg University finished second (338), followed by Westminster College (340), Grove City College (341), Bethany College (353) and Thiel (358). Notre Dame's Tony Pinzone earned medalist honors with a score of 74 (38-36), followed by Grove City's Troy Demmer in second (75, 37-38) and Notre Dame's Chris Holtz (77, 37-40) and Westminster's Nick Marzo (77, 39-38) tied for third. Junior Keith Pero (Hubbard, Ohio/Hubbard) was the Tomcat's top scorer, finishing tied for 12th place (83, 40-43). Junior Adam Daubspeck (Renfrew/Seneca Valley) finished 16th (88, 42-46). Freshman Ashley Ahrens (Kennerdell/Cranberry Area) was the top performer on the women's side, finishing with a 99. The men's and women's golf squads will return to action on Monday, April 14 when they travel to the Grove City Country Club. The event is scheduled to get underway at 12 p.m. |
