THIEL NAMES MCMILLEN HEAD GOLF COACH

GREENVILLE, Pa. (March 20) -- Thiel College announced on Thursday that Dan McMillen has been named the new men's and women's head golf coach for the Tomcats.

McMillen has been the club and teaching professional at The Greens of Greenville (formerly Greenville Country Club) for the past 17 years. He truly is a homegrown product having attended Reynolds High School, then graduating from Thiel in 1986 with a degree in business administration. McMillen was a four-year letter winner on the Tomcat golf team.

Following a brief stint in sales, McMillen accepted the position of Head Golf Professional at Greenville Country Club. He earned his “Class A” status with the PGA of America in April 1996. Since then he has provided individual and clinical instruction to hundreds of area players with a special emphasis on junior golfers. He has been the head golf coach at Greenville High School for 11 seasons over which time a number of his players have gone on to successful college and professional golf careers. Through his competitive and exhibition experience, Dan has played with such notable professional golfers as Fuzzy Zoeller, John Cook and Natalie Gulbis.

McMillen also has the distinction of being the only PGA professional to have recorded two holes-in-one on the same hole in the same day. That occurred on March 12, 2007 at the King and Bear Golf Club in St. Augustine, Florida.

Assisting McMillen with the Tomcats will be former interim head coach Scott Hartle and Angelo Giannini.

Dan and his wife Kim (Thiel Class of ’87) reside in Greenville with their loyal golden retriever Rudy.
