Majors and Areas of Study
PRE-MINISTRY OPPORTUNITIES AT THIEL COLLEGE
Students enrolled at Thiel College may designate pre-ministry as an area of study during their undergraduate education. This designation may accompany any choice of academic major and/or minor that students may make. A designation of pre-ministry as an area of study enables the College more easily to identify particular opportunities that may be of interest to the student. Such opportunities include:
Vocational Counsel and Guidance by the Campus Pastor
Thiel's campus pastor works closely with students who are interested in preparing for formal ministries in the church and helps students become familiar with ministry opportunities in the ELCA and other denominations of the Christian church. The pastor will also help introduce students to the procedures involved in preparing for seminary enrollment leading to ordination or other certification for ministry.
Students interested in the vocation of ministry are encouraged to become active in the campus ministry of Thiel College, which includes campus worship and a variety of student campus ministry organizations and activities. The student work-study program at Thiel College includes positions in campus ministry under the direction of the campus pastor.
Pre-Seminary Working Group
A variety of extra-curricular opportunities and activities are available to students in the pre-seminary working group, organized by the campus pastor. Students with any interest in the vocational ministries of the church are invited to participate in this group.
Religion 172: "Introduction to Ministry"
"Introduction to Ministry" examines the theological, historical, ecumenical and experiential dimensions of Christian ministry and is a three-credit course open to students of all religious backgrounds and all academic programs of the College.
