Major Requirements:
The major in political science shall successfully
complete:
1. 34 C.H. in political science including:
a. Either POSC 146 or 156
b. POSC 286 and 496
c. At least one course in each of the following subfields:
American Politics: POSC 116, 226, 236, 296, 297, 300, 336, 436
Comparative Systems: POSC 146, 327, 347, 376, 378
International Affairs: POSC 156, 316, 396, 456, 466
Political Theory: POSC 378, 486
2. A total of two additional courses selected from any of the following programs: economics, history, psychology, sociology.
3. English 120
Recommended Study:
Political science majors are strongly advised to complete at least one of the following courses by the end of the sophomore year:
Math 101 A Cultural Approach to Mathematics
Math 111 Elementary Statistics
Majors who intend to pursue graduate study in political science and related disciplines should consult with departmental faculty concerning preparation for graduate school.
Minor Requirements:
The minor in political science shall successfully complete six courses (18 C.H.) in political science:
POSC 146 Introduction to Comparative Politics
or
POSC 156 Introduction to International Relations
POSC 116 American Government and Politics
Four additional departmental courses, three of them from the subfields of Comparative Systems, International Affairs, Political Theory.
