Thiel College Foreign Language Competency Requirement for the Bachelor of Arts Degree.

The foreign language competency requirement is a one-year (two semester) obligation. Upon completion of the sequence, students will develop:

• An understanding of the spoken language;

• Appropriate reading skills that will allow the student to link the written language to real-life objects, actions, and ideas;

• The ability to write what the student hears with correct spelling, syntax, and punctuation;

• Appropriate pronunciation of  common words and phrases.
  

In order to fulfill the requirement, a student must earn a "C" or better in each semester. That means that any student earning less than a "C" in the first semester course will not be permitted to register for the second semester of the one year requirement. There will be no exceptions. 

Thiel College Multicultural Awareness Requirement for the Bachelor of Science Degree

The multicultural awareness requirement may be satisfied by completing one of the following:

• Passing the proficiency test in a foreign language;

• Completing two semesters at the introductory level of a foreign language;

• Completing one culture course (e.g. FREN 253, GERM 253, SPAN 254, 264).
