Thiel College offers a two-semester intensive English program for international students. The courses involve practice with and development of the following skills: speaking, listening, writing, and reading. Students who test into the ESL program will take three ESL courses (9 credit hours) each semester. Any additional credit hours can be selected from a limited number of subject areas. The program is designed to allow for students' growth. Upon successful completion of the program, students will focus their attention on their majors and other required coursework.
The ESL Program at Thiel is a limited academic schedule for the first two semesters in attendance at Thiel College. Any exception to this policy is determined by superior class performance in English as a Second Language (ESL) courses and either superior performance on the Michigan Language Test (given near the end of the first semester) or a TOEFL/IELTS score above the ESL placement level.
