Sketching workshop is June 7

Thiel College will host a one-day sketching workshop led by artist and former faculty member William J. Mancuso on Friday, June 7, in Room 301 of the Daniel and Dorothy Spence Academic Center. The workshop will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and is designed to encourage participants to explore sketching as a mindful, enjoyable activity that brings attention to the details of everyday life.

The workshop is open to the public. The registration fee is $195 plus a small processing charge and includes all art materials. Each participant will receive a sketching kit valued at $45, which includes a small watercolor sketchbook, waterbrush, compact watercolor palette with professional-grade paint, waterproof pen, water-soluble pencil, light-duty sketchbook, and a portable carrying case.

Participants will take part in a mid-day break, allowing time to enjoy lunch at one of the nearby restaurants or to bring their own and relax on campus.

Mancuso, who taught at Thiel College for nine years, focuses on helping artists at all levels sketch freely and attentively. The workshop will introduce techniques using pen, watercolor, and water-soluble pencil, with informal discussion on perspective, color, and composition. The emphasis will be on the experience of sketching rather than producing finished artwork.

Gross shares blue skies and beautiful campus shots

The Office of Communications and Marketing is once again inviting the campus community to contribute photo essays for the staff newsletter, T-Notes. Last semester, your submissions offered glimpses into campus life, from vibrant 🍁 fall colors to festive moments like 🎅 Salvation Army bell ringers and 🎃 Halloween costumes. This week, Sheila Gross, Ph.D. ’10 snapped a portrait of iconic Greenville Hall.

The summer months provide some of the best opportunities to showcase the beauty of the campus. We’re looking for even more unique and interesting perspectives that highlight what makes Thiel such a great place to work and learn. Whether it’s a hidden campus gem, a special event, or a snapshot of daily life, we want to see Thiel through your eyes! 👀✨

How to Participate: Send your photos to tnotes@thiel.edu.

Tomcat Tributes

Tomcat Tributes recognize the teamwork Thiel College employees exhibit each day. Employees can nominate co-workers for recognition in four categories (Random Act of Kindness, Going the Extra Mile, Had a Great Idea, Just Because).

Going the extra mile!

NomineesMauricio De La Garza and Thomas Keane
Nominator: Capri Turk

Comment:
“Coach Mo and Coach Keane generously helped our Admissions Staff tear down the HMSC hallway vendor tables and set up full seating and tables in the LHR before orientation. We would have been there forever without their help. Thank you both!”

Communications collateral

Employees should update the logos used on institutional materials, including email signatures, letterhead, PowerPoint slides, etc.

Thiel College has used the shield and wordmark combination as the official institutional logo for more than a year. They are the only approved logo for academic co-curricular and institutional use. Additional athletic logo packages are also available.

Email signatures, brand resources, and a job request form are all available online. A Dropbox folder has been set up with instructions and the materials necessary to create new email signatures. Employees can find other Thiel College-branded resources including letterhead, logos and PowerPoint slides in the same folder.

Thiel College community members who need help with communications and marketing initiatives and collateral can now request those services with a job form. The request form is available on the communications and marketing webpage or linked directly below.

For more information, email the office.
