Members of Thiel College’s inaugural class of Master of Science in physician assistant studies added to their unique legacy as the first class with their dedication of a plaque recognizing the gifts to science donors made for the College’s anatomy lab.

Thiel College welcomed Pennsylvania Representative Parke Wentling on July 25, 2023, as he presented a citation to Craig Thurber, the Rod E. Wilt '86 Head Coach for Thiel College Wrestling.

Assistant Dean for Student Involvement attends DEI conference

Assistant Dean for Student Engagement Than Oo attended the Network of ELCA Colleges and Universities Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Conference recently. He described it as “a very insightful and productive meeting.”

Representatives from Augustana, California Lutheran, Capital, Grand View, Luther, Newberry, Pacific Lutheran, Texas Lutheran, Thiel, and Wartburg colleges and universities attended the event.

AD Fautas joining Hauser for a ‘Zooming from the Archives’ event

Athletic Director Jason Fautas will be the special guest of archivist John Hauser ’71, H’20 a part of Hauser’s Zooming from the TC Archives at noon Sept. 6. Fautas will discuss Thiel athletics.

In the past, some of the topics discussed on "Zooming from the Archives" have included Vice President for Academic Affairs Greg Q. Butcher, Ph.D. talking about the graduate programs, veteran’s liaison Mike Mason talking about the veterans' programs, Robert Olson, Ph.D. ’60 H’09 recalling his roles as a student, professor, dean and president, and assistant dean for student engagement Than Oo discussing student activities.

Third cohort of speech-language students graduate

Thiel College Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology students were awarded their diplomas during the program’s third Commencement Exercises recently.

Seventeen students were awarded their degrees during the July 27 event, and two students were recognized for their exceptional work during the program. Cheyanna M. Ross ’15 M.S.’23 was awarded the Dr. Nancy Antonino Outstanding Clinician award. Malena Nicole Sparidaens M.S.’23 was awarded the Dr. Sonya Wilt Outstanding Speech-Language Pathology Graduate Student award.

Retirement plan information

Employees should consult their email for information about upcoming updates regarding TIAA. The email was sent July 26 and was sent to let employees know that plan participants will soon receive a letter from TIAA outlining some important updates that will be implemented by TIAA on or about August 28, 2023.

The College and the Blue-Gold Club are delighted to welcome Cuyler (Butch) Berwanger whose father, John Jacob (Jay) Berwanger, was the first recipient of the Heisman trophy in 1935. The public is invited to this free event for the rare opportunity to hear the stories and insights about the man who blazed a path and left an imprint for all to follow.
