Environmental science majors Zoe Heckathorn ’23 and Katie Aaron ’24 recently presented poster projects at the fifteenth annual Student Symposium on the Environment that was held on December 1 at Westminster College. Heckathorn was awarded an honorable mention for her project.
Of the 175 total symposium attendees, 115 students from several regional colleges, universities, and high schools presented their environment-focused research, projects, service work, internships, and artwork. Students in attendance came from Westminster College, Thiel College, Duquesne University, Chatham University, Pennsylvania Western University, Youngstown State University, Butler Senior High School, Central Valley High School, Lower Merion High School, and Wilmington Area High School.
The students presented a total of seventy-three projects across seven main categories, including Environmental Project Posters, Environmental Research Posters, Oral Presentations, High School Presentations, Photography, Artwork, and Video Programs. Winners were chosen from each of the seven categories and were awarded cash prizes by BioMost, Inc.
The 16th Annual Student Symposium on the Environment will be held on December 7, 2023. The annual event is sponsored by the Center for the Environment at Westminster College and the Slippery Rock Watershed Coalition.
