Opening Convocation kicks off Common Hour events

On Thursday, College welcomed the newest members of the College community, an outstanding group of first-year, transfer and international students at Opening Convocation in the William A. Passavant Memorial Center. As is the tradition, the new students walked up Brother Martin’s Walk marking the beginning of their academic journey at Thiel, a walk they will repeat when they graduate from Thiel.

New graduate students attended Opening Convocation for the first time and joined in welcoming the new undergraduates.

Employees can help push food drive past its goal

The First-Year Student food drive has been a wonderful success.  So far nearly 5,500 pounds of food was collected. This is almost half a ton more than was collected in 2019, but is still a little short of the goal of 6,000 pounds.

Anyone who wants to help the College reach its goal can contribute a few cans or other non-perishable items can be left in the truck bed of Associate Academic Dean for Student Success and Professor of Neuroscience Greg Butcher, Ph.D. His gray Silverado will be parked behind the Greenville Hall Friday morning. It will have a Thiel flag hanging from it.

For more information, contact Butcher.

Help Wanted

Given the need to temporarily house some students off-campus as a result of the delays with our residence hall projects, the College is looking to hire individuals to shuttle students to and from campus for classes and other activities.  Both off-campus locations are within a couple of miles from campus.  Drivers will use a College vehicle and be compensated at an hourly rate, and we need drivers for hours within the 7:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. range (Monday through Friday) and a smaller range on weekends (potentially through the month of September).  This opportunity is open to employees interested in making extra money outside their normal hours, students, or community members.

If anyone is interested and/or knows of others who might be interested in driving for us, please contact Monica Adametz at ext. 2240 for more information.  We could use drivers who can work as many as 40 hours per week, or as little as a few hours per week.

Communications collateral

Employees should update the logos used on institutional materials, including email signatures, letterhead, PowerPoint slides, etc.

Thiel College has used the shield and wordmark combination as the official institutional logo for more than a year. They are the only approved logo for academic co-curricular and institutional use. Additional athletic logo packages are also available.

Email signatures, brand resources, and a job request form are all available online. A Dropbox folder has been set up with instructions and the materials necessary to create new email signatures. Employees can find other Thiel College-branded resources including letterhead, logos and PowerPoint slides in the same folder.

Thiel College community members who need help with communications and marketing initiatives and collateral can now request those services with a job form. The request form is available on the communications and marketing webpage or linked directly below.

For more information, email the office.
