The latest edition of the magazine profiles the College’s new graduate programs looks at the legends of a haunted campus and features the tennis team.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, Thiel College will not be hosting its traditional MLK Award Celebration; but we do want to recognize the work of the students, faculty/staff, and community members. Our theme is “The Celebration of Mindfulness, Love, and Kindness,” and we are accepting nominations for individuals in the following categories from the Tomcat community.

M.L.K. Student Service Award
The Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Student Service Award is presented to students who exhibit integrity and demonstrate a commitment to service through an interest in bettering the lives of others. Their deeds and actions reflect the embodiment of Dr. King’s depth of compassion, the importance of education, and pride in their community.
M.L.K. Faculty/Staff Service Award
The Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Faculty/Staff Service Award is given to faculty/staff members who exceed expectations in the area of service to the community, and who embody the principles of leadership outlined by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s dream. These faculty and staff have volunteered, courageously led efforts in our community, performed extraordinary everyday acts of service, and have shown dedication within the community.
M.L.K. Community Service Award
The Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Community Service Award does more than honor its recipients. It also further illustrates the great value of service and community involvement at Thiel College. This award acknowledges the dedication of those individuals who demonstrate the principles of the “Tomcat Family Bond.”
The nomination submission deadline is at 5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 18.
Those nominated will be announced and posted on Thiel’s website on Jan. 18, 2021.

Assistant Director of Communications and Marketing Dominick DiRienzo and student Abby South ’23 were drawn as the screening station volunteers of the week.
The Volunteer Screener Appreciation Prize incentive program open to employees and students who work for the College’s temperature screening stations. Every Friday, winners are randomly drawn by computer from the weekly list of volunteers and will receive a gift card to a store such as Lowes, Giant Eagle, Walmart, Sheetz or a local establishment. Winners will be contacted and announced the following Monday. This program will continue weekly until the end of the fall semester.
The Wellness Committee is sponsoring a ‘Thiel Wellness Bingo Challenge’ for any Thiel employee who would like to participate. The rules have been updated and are included on the card. The card can be downloaded and printed out or picked up in the Student Life Office or Faculty Lounge. Be sure to download the new card.
The game begins on December 1 and ends on January 18, 2021.
A completed Thiel Wellness Bingo card can be scanned and emailed to Jackie Kytchak or sent by sent by ICM by Jan. 22.

Samantha Forringer ’17, Kristyn Kinner ’19, Cam Neal ’19, Yuanyuan Qu ’19 attended an online alumni panel recently for psychology students.
Robin Sakonyi is the new Director of Thiel Learning Commons. She communicated by email to students to remind them about the TLC support available as they prepare for finals.

The Thiel College community is invited to a special performance titled Simple Gifts: A Collection of Songs by American Composers, featuring the Thiel concert band and the Thiel rock band with guest appearances by the Thiel Tomcat Marching Pride majorette, flag lines, and members of the Thiel choir. Performances will include songs by Journey.
The in-person event is only open to members of the campus community. TCTV studio will film the concert and livestream on its YouTube.com channel. The College radio station, WXTC 88.1 FM, is scheduled to broadcast the concert.
