The first Common Hour programming was Opening Convocation on Thursday, Aug. 30. First-year students were welcomed into the Thiel College community by their peers, faculty and staff.

Associate Academic Dean for Student Success Greg Q. Butcher, Ph.D., will present at 11:15 a.m. in Stamm Lecture Hall of the James Pedas Communication Center what the Health Professions Institute is and how it helps students reach their goals of finding a healthcare-related career.
Faculty and staff should also attend to learn more about the Institute's offerings for students.
To reduce email clutter from the Thiel Happenings account, a weekly student newsletter will go out Tuesday afternoons starting Tuesday, Sept. 11. The Thiel Happenings newsletter will contain brief student-focused news and announcements of meetings, events, and student activities.
Common Hour reminders will come out independently as a Thiel Happenings email, but all other notices will be distributed once weekly in an effort to streamline inboxes and reduce clutter.
Faculty and staff wishing to get an announcement published should send an email 9 a.m. the Monday before publication.
Tomcat Tributes recognize the teamwork Thiel College employees exhibit each day. Employees can nominate co-workers for recognition in four categories (Random Act of Kindness, Going the Extra Mile, Had a Great Idea, Just Because).
Thiel College community members who need help with communications and marketing initiatives and collateral can now request those services with a job form. The request form is available on the communications and marketing webpage or linked directly below.
Also, a reminder that a Dropbox folder with Thiel College-branded resources including letterhead, logos and PowerPoint slides is available.

Retirement plan financial advisors, William Ferguson and Jack Ryan, from HB Retirement, will be available for one-on-one meetings with Thiel employees on Sept. 14.

Thiel Fortnightly Club Annual Fall Breakfast

The Thiel College Fortnightly Club, founded in 1922, is a social organization for the women of Thiel College. Fortnightly sponsors a book club and various social events throughout the school year. There is an annual $10 fee to join the organization, which may be paid either at the breakfast or at the second event. The dues to offset the cost of events and support a scholarship fund.

A new chapel talk series with speakers from around campus will discuss spirituality and religious topics throughout the semester.
