Recent developments renew interest in College’s connection to Amelia Earhart H’32

Historian, author and Thiel College President Susan Traverso, Ph.D., hopes recent developments and ongoing research into the 80-year-old mystery surrounding one of the College’s most famous honorary degree recipients, Amelia Earhart H’32, will call attention to and renew interest in the achievements of the aviation and women’s rights pioneer.

President Traverso, Thiel College dignitaries welcome new hotel to Greenville community

Thiel College President Susan Traverso, Ph.D., joined members of the Board of Trustees and alumni and about 100 other members of the Greenville community at the ribbon cutting for the new Cobblestones Suites & Hotel along 81 Hadley Road on Tuesday.

Renewed grant supports scholarships for Greenville, Commodore Perry, Jamestown and Reynolds students

Thiel College, a leading liberal arts college in northwest Pennsylvania, received $175,000 recently from The Community Foundation of Western Pennsylvania & Eastern Ohio. The funds will go to continue the support of the Emerson A. Baughman, Agnes F. Baughman and David E. Baughman Endowed Scholarship at Thiel.

NEW VIDEO: A look back at the excitement and accomplishments of the last academic year

Students soon will be back on campus, and the Thiel College community will be bustling with energy. Get ready for Welcome Weekend and the upcoming year, by taking a look back at the big events from the 2016-2017 academic year. 

Barr recognized during retirement party

Barr retired as the director of housekeeping. She worked at Thiel for nearly 39 years. She worked her way up from housekeeper to supervisor before becoming director six years ago. She was honored with a staff award during Founders’ Day in February.

Stationery package for campus community now available.

Email signature, letterhead, envelope and PowerPoint templates with other brand assets to be used by all faculty and staff (athletics and the Office of the President can continue using office specific logos) are available in a Dropbox folder. The folder also includes the Thiel College logo that is to be used in place of the sesquicentennial logo and any other existing logos.

Thiel College says farewell to ...

Waldameer employee discount

Thiel College employees are eligible for a special online discount to Waldameer and Water World Park in Erie, Pa. Follow the order tickets online link, activate the orange promotional button in the top righthand corner and enter the code THIEL17 (case and space sensitive). The discount saves $4 off a regular combination pass and $2 off a children’s pass.

Campus Store hours

The Campus Store in the Howard Miller Student Center is open 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays and all orientation days. The store is closed Mondays and Fridays.

DocuCenter relocated to Glen Johnson Center

The DocuCenter has been relocated to the Glen Johnson Community Center Room 105. The Thiel Post Office does not serve the Johnson Center. Deliveries will be made from the DocuCenter to the post office at 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. daily, or items can be picked up at the DocuCenter’s new location. Please specify when placing an order if you want to pick up your project or have it delivered to the post office. The DocuCenter’s hours are  8 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays.

Tomcat Tributes

Tomcat Tributes are designed to recognize the teamwork Thiel College employees exhibit each day. Employees can nominate co-workers for recognition in four categories (Random Act of Kindness, Going the Extra Mile, Had a Great Idea, Just Because).

T-Notes Publishing Schedule

The next issue of T-Notes will be out Wednesday, August 2. T-Notes has begun its summer publishing schedule. During the summer, it will be released twice each month. The weekly schedule will resume in August.
