Director of Facilities Mike Shultz said the maintenance department is finishing a couple of concrete and sidewalk projects this week. The sidewalks along Ridgeway Avenue on lower campus will be repaired and a cap will be placed on the new brick wall in front of the Howard Miller Student Center.
The old sidewalks will be removed and formed today. Students, faculty and staff should avoid the cordoned off areas and construction equipment, Shultz said.

On Nov. 4, 22 Thiel College accounting and finance majors attended the 20th annual Accounting and Finance Student/Practitioner Day sponsored by the Williamson College of Business Administration at Youngstown State University. The day was filled with informative presentations and a chance to network with accounting professionals practicing in the areas of public accounting, forensic accounting, banking, government and industry. Accounting firms and companies of all sizes were present with their representatives available to chat throughout the day.
Students attended numerous breakout sessions on topics of interest regarding possible career paths in the accounting profession. Professor and John S. & Doris M. Andrews Chair in Accounting David Stout, Ph.D., delivered the keynote presentation, “The Benefit of Critical Self Reflection.”
Vira I. Heinz Study Abroad Scholarship for Women in Global Leadership recipients Jaime Whitaker ’18, Madi Mele ’17 and Jennifer Shelley ’17 invite all staff, faculty, and students to the presentation “Please Excuse My First Language” at 7 p.m. Nov. 30 in the Lutheran Heritage Room of the Howard Miller Student Center. Scholarship recipients are required to prepare a community engagement experience after their trip. The students have chosen to do a project looking at the language barriers and culture differences at Thiel College.
Tomcat Tributes are designed to recognize the teamwork Thiel College employees exhibit each day. Employees can nominate co-workers for recognition in four categories (Random Act of Kindness, Going the Extra Mile, Had a Great Idea, Just Because).

Representatives from benefits providers will discuss plan updates at two sessions. Contact Kris Whaling at ext. 2150 to reserve a seat at either the 10 a.m. session or 3 p.m. session. Full-time employees will receive a 2017 open enrollment selection form that contains his or her current benefit information and options to make selections for 2017.
The 2017 selection form (along with any change forms) must be completed and returned to Human Resources no later than Nov. 28. All benefit eligible employees are required to complete and return the 2017 benefits selection form.
