The first Thiel Forum of the academic year will discuss international and domestic travel at 4 p.m. Thursday in the Stamm Lecture Hall of the James Pedas Communication Center.
James Pedas Professor of Communication and Chair of the Department of Media, Communication and Public Relations Dane Claussen, Ph.D., will present on “Working, Living, and Traveling in China.”
Vince Vahaley ’17, Nicholas McNutt ’17, Martin Black and Fred Kiser ’11 will discuss the 2016 Thiel College neuroscience bike trek to Maine.
Vira I. Heinz Scholarship recipient Jennifer Shelley ’16 will review her study abroad experience in her presentation “Thailand: The Land of Smile.”

2016-17 Schedule
The Campus Store is open three hours before the kickoff on football Saturdays. The store is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on weekdays. New lapel pins and outdoor and fall weather apparel are in stock.
The store has also reduced prices on its sale merchandise.
The Career Development Center will host two workshops in September in the James Pedas Communication Center. Each 30-minute session will be held twice.
The next workshop, “How to Find an Internship: Thiel Students Share Their Stories,” is from 4-4:30 p.m. and 7-7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 20 in Room 125 of the Pedas Center. This past summer saw a record number of Thiel students undertaking internships across a wide span of majors including biology, environmental science, chemistry, psychology, neuroscience, conservation biology, English, history, accounting, business, communications, information technology and criminal justice. This workshop features two different panels of six students sharing how they found their internship, what they did, what they learned, and recommendations on how they will do things next time.
The workshop, “Networking: How to Get Exactly What You Want,” is from 4-4:30 p.m. and 7-7:30 p.m. on Sept. 27 in Room 125 of the Pedas Center. The workshop will discuss how 80 percent of job openings are never advertised because hiring managers use their networks to get the word out. Attend this session to learn some networking basics. On Friday, Sept. 30 from 5-6:30 p.m. in the Pedas Center, students can attend the alumni and student networking event during Homecoming.
