Veteran local law enforcement officer named Thiel’s police chief and public safety director

GREENVILLE, Pa.—Thiel College, a leading liberal arts college in northwest Pennsylvania, recently named Dennis Bish its chief of police and director of public safety.

Bish has served as a police officer for the Greenville-West Salem Police Department for 16 years. During that time, he has also served as a park ranger for the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources for nine years. Previously, he served in the U.S. Army as a helicopter crew chief. He graduated from the Mercyhurst College Municipal Police Training Academy at Thiel College. Additionally, he completed courses in criminal justice and police science at Edinboro University of Pennsylvania and Penn State University.

“Dennis Bish is a respected local law enforcement figure,” said Mike McKinney ’02, vice president for student life, dean of students and Title IX co-coordinator. “We are excited about the connections he creates between Thiel and the greater Greenville community. He is a vital part of the equation for maintaining a safe place for our students, employees and visitors.”

As chief of police/director of public safety, Bish is responsible for the campus security of the people and facilities, emergency management plans and activities; and oversight of the College’s fleet vehicle and shuttle service.
