GREENVILLE, Pa.—The Thiel College student body recently elected its 2020-2021 academic year Student Government Association Executive Board, which comprises the offices of president, vice president, secretary, treasurer and media board manager.

Jessica Peters ’21 was elected president. The rest of the executive board is Hannah Uschock ’22 (vice president), Sarah Carlson ’21 (treasurer), Delaney Merideth ’21 (secretary) and Megan Hepler ’22 (media board manager).

The Student Government Association exists to advocate for student needs, promote student interests, increase student involvement and civic engagement and serve as the voice for the student body. It is structured to provide support to student organizations and has the authority to allocate funding to recognized groups.

“I am honored and excited to be elected to be SGA President,” Peters said. “I am excited to work with this group of hardworking fellow students to serve the Thiel College campus and Greenville community.”

The Student Government Association General Assembly is composed of five elected executive board officers, four elected class officers for the first-year, sophomore, junior and senior classes, and one representative from each recognized SGA organization. All members of the General Assembly are voting members and are expected to represent the best interests of the student body.

“The Executive Board is very excited to work for the student body this upcoming school year,” Uschock said. “We cannot wait to serve our fellow students and work with the College administration in this capacity.”

Meetings are typically held on a bi-weekly basis throughout each semester and all meetings are open to the entire student body. Student clubs and organizations at Thiel College must be recognized members of the SGA to be considered official (with exception to Greek letter organizations and varsity athletic programs). If Thiel does not have an organization students are interested in, there is a very simple process for students to start a new organization on campus.
