Thiel College professor appears on CBS TV affiliate discussing Ukraine crisis

GREENVILLE, Pa.—Assistant Professor of Communication Lana Kulik, Ph.D. appeared on Youngstown televsion to discuss the crisis in the Ukraine on Thursday, Feb.24.

Kulik is from Russia and is a member of the International Association for Media and Communication Research, the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication, and the International Studies Association. Since 2008, she has authored more than 15 academic papers and presentations, many relating to Kyrgyzstan and central Asian media and journalism.

Kulik has held roles as journalism department chair and public relations director for American University of Central Asia. She also worked as a media and publications consultant in non-profit and international organizations, including the International Research and Exchange Board, the Urban Institute, and the National Democratic Institute. Most recently, Kulik worked as a freelance writer, editor, researcher and public relations consultant with a focus on Kyrgyzstan and other post-Soviet countries. Her main interests are international public relations and post-Soviet journalism.

In 1993, Kulik earned a Bachelor of Arts in English and literature from Kyrgyzskij Gosudarstvennyj Nacionalnij Universitet in Kyrgyzstan; a Master of Arts in political science from Central European University, Budapest, Hungary in 1995; a Master of Science in mass communication and journalism from Kansas State University in 1997; and a doctorate in mass communication and public affairs from Louisiana State University in 2008.
