GREENVILLE, Pa.—Thiel College Assistant Professor of Physics Eugene Torigoe, Ph.D., and Assistant Professor of Mathematics and Computer Science Ronald Anderson ’07 are hosting a free weeklong electronics camp for middle and high school students from May 16-21.

The inaugural Thiel College Electronics Camp is from 7-9 p.m. in Rhodehouse Memorial Science Hall. The camp will lead students through a series of projects based around the Arduino microcontroller. Attendees will learn how to put together circuits on a breadboard, use microchips, connect to sensors and motors, and program the microcontroller.

The camp is open to middle and high school students. Younger students can attend, but must be accompanied by a parent or guardian who can help the student with some of the complicated tasks such as programming. Interested adults are also welcome, but students receive priority.

The camp was funded by a Greenville Neuromodulation Center (GNC) Faculty/Student Research Institute grant. In 2015, Thiel College alumni Fred ’65 and his wife, Jill (Shackett) Haer ’66, pledged more than $400,000 to fund the GNC Faculty/Student Research Institute.

For more information or to reserve a spot, email Torigoe.
