Record-Argus recognizes David Soul’s connections to Thiel College and the community

GREENVILLE, Pa.—The recent passing of actor David Soul has spurred recollections of his connection to Thiel College, including an article in the Greenville Record-Argus.

Soul was the son of Richard Solberg, Ph.D. Solberg was the Academic Dean and Professor of History at Thiel College from 1963 to 1974.

Solberg was 89 when he passed away in 2006. Soul’s death was announced on Jan. 5 after an illness. He was 80. He was an actor and singer known for his starring role in “Starsky & Hutch” and his hit single “Don't Give Up on Us.”

Soul spent time on campus and in the Greenville community while his father worked at Thiel. According to a staff member, Soul was on campus participating in protests regarding the treatment of displaced mill workers.
