GREENVILLE, Pa.—Thiel College’s annual Homecoming parade through Greenville will take a short detour to avoid a section of Main Street downtown that has been closed.

The parade starts at 1:30 p.m. at Riverside Park. The parade will head south, meet up with Alan Avenue and merge with North Race Street. The parade will turn left onto Shenango Street, then right onto North Mercer Street. From there it will turn left onto Main Street (Routes 58, 358 and 18) and follow the traditional path toward campus, ending on College Avenue in front of campus.

“It’s a small shift in route,” said Director of Alumni Relations Kraig R. Smith ’12. “The Greenville community will still get to experience the pageantry and excitement of the parade and our Homecoming theme, ‘Forever Gold.’ Thiel College is proud to be a part of Greenville, and the parade is an important way for the community and Thiel College to connect.”

The community is also invited to attend other campus Homecoming activities on Saturday, including the football game at 3 p.m. Activities are scheduled throughout the weekend. Homecoming 2015 kicks off Friday morning with alumni registration and hospitality. The festivities continue through the day with student and alumni networking events, receptions, and culminate with a student pep rally and bonfire. Friday’s marquee event is the black tie Thiel 2016 Gala, where President Troy D. VanAken, Ph.D., will make a historic announcement.
