First-year Thiel College majorette to compete in state twirling competition

GREENVILLE, Pa.—Sydney Varga ’24 will compete on April 18 in the 2021 Pennsylvania State Twirling Championship held at Indiana University of Pennsylvania in Indiana, Pa.

A Fayette City, Pa. native, Varga is a first-year biology major at Thiel College with a minor in psychology. She is an active member of the Thiel Team, the Dietrich Honors Institute, the Lambda Sigma sophomore honor society, and the Thiel College Marching Pride majorettes.

Varga competed on March 27 in a Twirling Unlimited competition held at the Buhl Center in Sharon, Pa. She participated in three events, winning first place in one event and second place in the other two. Her past baton twirling awards include placing ninth overall at the national competition in 2017, being Miss Majorette of Pennsylvania in 2017, and being part of the winning 2018 U.S. World Team.
