GREENVILLE, Pa.—Thiel College tennis coach Gabriele Eaborn became the first tennis coach in school history to be named the Presidents’ Athletic Conference Women’s Tennis Coach of the Year on Tuesday.

In her second season directing Thiel’s tennis programs, Eaborn led the women’s team to a 6-9 overall record and a 2-5 mark in conference matches this fall. Thiel’s six wins are single-season record for the program. The Tomcats were a combined 5-37 overall and 4-19 in the PAC between 2015–18.

Multiple Tomcats also earned All-PAC honorable mention recognition. Shyann Foreman ’20 (Wellsboro, Pa./Wellsboro) and Natalie Zgurich ’23 (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) were both named for first and second singles, respectively. Zgurich went 6-8 on the season at second singles. Allyson Stanley ’21 (Oil City, Pa./Oil City) and Reagan Hayne ’23 (Greenville, Pa./Greenville) also were honored for their play at fourth and sixth singles, respectively. Stanley went 10-3 overall at fourth singles while Hayne went 6-6 overall at sixth singles.

Zgurich, along with senior Angela Campbell ’20 (Pittsburgh, Pa./Plum), picked up All-PAC Honorable Mention recognition for their play at No. 1 doubles. The duo won four No. 1 doubles matches on the year, three of which were during league play. Hayne and Taylor Ranegar ’23 (Pittsburgh, Pa./Avella) were also selected at No. 3 doubles. The freshmen pair went 6-7 overall on the year.

Also recognized Tuesday was senior Amelia Mutinelli ’20 (Greenville, Pa./Greenville), who was named to the PAC Sportsmanship Team.

Eaborn was named head coach of the men’s and women’s tennis programs in September 2018.

A 2018 Westminster College graduate, Eaborn was a four-year varsity letter winner for the Titans. During her career Eaborn collected more than 100 victories and was a part of two PAC championship teams. A three-time All-PAC honoree, she collected first-team honors as a freshman and junior.

The league’s all-conference teams, along with this year’s annual award winners and sportsmanship team selections, were decided by a vote of the conference’s eight head coaches.
