Church merger leads to scholarship at Thiel College for Lutheran students from Erie

GREENVILLE, Pa.—Thiel College has been presented with a new endowed scholarship from Christ the Redeemer Lutheran Church of Lawrence Park in Erie, Pa. which could award about $2,000 annually.

The $40,000 endowment stems from a merger between Christ the Redeemer and Faith Lutheran Church and has led to a scholarship for Lutheran students from the Erie area. The new scholarship joins a list of 27 named scholarships from Lutheran churches in the region.

“We are incredibly blessed to have support from our local churches,” Vice President of College Advancement Roberta Leonard said. “Without the help of Christ the Redeemer and so many other churches, Thiel would not be the leading College it is today.”

Individuals, groups, organizations, or churches interested in setting up an endowed scholarship fund should contact Leonard or 724-589-2024.

The College has more than 200 named scholarships for students.

Prospective students interested in this scholarship or learning about other scholarship opportunities should contact the Office of Admission at 724-589-2345.
