Choir concludes tour with performance at David Johnson Memorial Chapel

GREENVILLE, Pa.—The Thiel Choir is performing spring concerts at two churches in northern and central Pennsylvania, and one closer to home in Greenville.

The choir performs on April 8 at First Lutheran Church, 109 W. 3rd Ave., Warren, Pa. at 7 p.m. They will follow that up with a performance on April 9 at Grace Lutheran Church, 205 S. Garner St., State College, Pa. at 7 p.m. The choir will also join the 9 and 10:30 a.m. services at Grace Lutheran Church on April 10.

The choir’s tour culminates with a performance on May 1 at the David Johnson Memorial Chapel, 75 College Ave., Greenville, Pa. at 3:30 p.m.

Under the direction of Thiel College Professor of Music Michael Bray, D.M.A., the choir will perform a variety of sacred works by Cesar Carillo, Lloyd Pfautsch, Bob Chilcott, Ernani Aguiar, Craig Courtney and Robert Wetzler. Arrangements of both American and Irish folk songs in addition to hymns and spirituals by Jester Hairston, Houston Bright, Glenn Burleigh, Moses Hogan will be presented. 

“This final home concert of the 2015-2016 academic year represents not only the culmination of the concert season but also the beginning of the Thiel Choir’s Music Celebrations Tour to Ireland,” Bray said.

The choir will perform at several venues in Ireland from May 9-21. Their 13-day tour will include concerts in St. Anne’s, Belfast; St. Nicholas Cathedral, Galway; the Kylemore Abbey, St. Mary’s Cathedral, Killarney, St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Dublin; and St. Fergal’s Church, Bray.
