Abalos completes doctorate, presents research for Pennsylvania State Nurses Association

GREENVILLE, Pa.—Director of Nursing Sarahbeth Abalos, Ph.D. presented her research study, “The Lived Professional Experiences and Potential Impact of Generation Z Registered Nurses,” at an event hosted by the Pennsylvania State Nurses Association on September 24.

The mission of the PSNA is to educate, support, lead, and connect registered nurses across Pennsylvania. The wider healthcare community and those in public policy recognize the PSNA as a collective and respected voice that represents nurses across the state and advocates for their education and welfare.

Abalos is a licensed Registered Nurse and a graduate of the Ashland Community and Technical College. She completed her master’s degree in nursing science with a concentration in education at Wilkes University Passan School of Nursing. Abalos also completed her Ph.D. in Nursing at Wilkes University Passan School of Nursing. She is a Doctor of Nursing Practice student at Aspen University where she is projected to graduate in fall 2022.

Abalos also belongs to the American Nurses Association, the Pennsylvania State Nurses Association, Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, the International Philosophy of Nursing Society, and the National League for Nursing. She volunteers with Junior Achievement of Western PA and was awarded the Volunteer of the Year Award for Mercer County in 2017. She is a member of the board of directors for Do Good. Period. and the vice-chair of the Board of Directors at Sharon Community Health.

Of the College’s nursing program, Abalos said, “The program is committed to emphasizing the social mandate of nursing to prepare students to address the region’s unique needs and advance the population’s health.”

The new Thiel College nursing program has opened many doors for students who are interested in nursing. “Being part of this program can help anyone achieve their nursing career dreams quickly,” said Thiel College nursing student Anna Boyd ’25. “I chose to be part of this program because of the limitless opportunities I have been offered in it.”
