Instructional Technology Specialist and A/V Coordinator

Thiel College is currently accepting applications for the position of Instructional Technology Specialist and A/V Coordinator.

The Instructional Technology Specialist and A/V Coordinator provides support to three main areas/departments/programs: Information Technology; Pedas Center; and Pedas Fellows and other student staff.

Essential Job Functions and Duties:

  • Instructional support for students: A key aspect of the position is the ability to work with students in offering immediate help with media projects. This means that the selected candidate must be sincerely interested in helping students in all aspects of a given production.
  • Classroom technology support (hardware and software),
  • Manage Campus Scheduling platforms (working with vendors; supporting faculty, staff and students through training, etc.).
  • Coordinate, manage and execute A/V and web-rich events
  • Manage video and audio production equipment and systems
  • Configure and maintain video and audio production, transmission, storage, streaming and display equipment and systems.
  • Troubleshoot and repair digital, analog and electromechanical equipment and systems to the component level.
  • Research, evaluate and recommend video and audio technology upgrades and replacement schedule.
  • Plan and manage engineering projects (software and hardware).
  • Ability to produce short-form, advertising, and documentary-style videos.
  • Ability to produce audio for multiple platforms, including broadcast radio. 
  • Maintain A/V field production equipment and facilitate the lending of equipment to students, faculty and staff.
  • Responsible for hiring, training and scheduling the Pedas Fellows; serve as teaching assistants for the Introduction to Presentational Literacy course; and support classes across campus with communication needs such as video recording.
  • Help train and schedule student staff to help with the different stages of event production (prep, execution, tear down).

Education and Experience:  

Bachelor’s or higher degree in Video/Audio Production, Instructional Media Technology, Communication, Media/Commercial Art, or related discipline; one to two years experience in a related field of multimedia production, operation, or engineering.

Must possess proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, Final Cut and/or Avid, Audacity, as well as in using audio boards and Broadcast Pix and Tri-Caster switchers. Knowledge of specific area of media arts (e.g., studio photography and lighting; computer-based digital imaging; graphic arts, etc.); personal computer applications. Skill in the use of specialized video/audio equipment and materials employed in assigned area; written and interpersonal communication.

Candidate must have a strong commitment to serving in an academic environment with a demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively.  Candidate must be able to multi-task and maintain confidentiality.  Strong written and verbal skills are essential.
