Head Coach - Softball

Thiel College is currently accepting applications for the position of Head Softball Coach.

This position will be responsible for directing all aspects of Thiel’s NCAA Division III program, and will be expected to abide by and uphold the regulations of the NCAA Division III and the Presidents’ Athletic Conference.  Specific duties will include recruitment, retention, coaching, scheduling, team travel, budget management and supervision of assistant coach, monitoring student athletes’ academic progress, and other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics.  Candidate must have a strong commitment to academic and athletic success, with a demonstrated ability to identify and recruit student-athletes, a proven record of outstanding leadership, and strong organizational skills.

Essential functions include, but are not limited to:

  • Practice and game preparation and player development
  • Recruit and retain academically and athletically qualified student-athletes
  • Monitor and evaluate academic performance of student athletes
  • Engage parents, alumni, and community members
  • Ensure fiscal management for the program in accordance with all Thiel College policies
  • Hire, train, and supervise staff and student-workers
  • Provide service to the Institution as assigned by the Director of Athletics
  • Adhere to NCAA, conference, departmental, and institutional policies, procedures, and expectations
  • Secondary responsibility will be included with this position based upon chosen candidate’s background and qualifications
  • Other duties as requested

Requirements:

  • For this position, we require that candidates have a bachelor's degree and a master’s degree is preferred. Previous collegiate playing experience and 1-3 years of collegiate coaching experience is also required.
  • Travel is required as well as some evening and weekend work.  A valid driver's license with good driving record is also required.
  • Knowledge in the following technologies is preferred:  Microsoft office, athletic video and performance review software (i.e. Hudl, Synergy), social media, recruiting software (i.e. Frontrush).
