Faculty Position in Environmental Science Department - Environmental Safety Management Program

The Thiel College Department of Environmental Science invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position beginning August 2020.

We are seeking a vibrant faculty member to join our department in support of our new degree program, Environmental Safety Management (ESM). The ideal candidate will hold a M.S. or Ph.D. in Environmental Safety Management or a related field, have a minimum of five years of experience in the field, and a record of teaching experience, preferably in a college or university setting.  Responsibilities include teaching, advising and mentoring students as well as service to the department and college. Academic rank and salary will be commensurate with academic credentials and professional experience.

The successful candidate will possess the ability to teach courses with an applied focus that emphasizes experiential learning. Teaching assignments include foundational and upper-level courses within the Environmental Safety Management curriculum as needed to support department programs. A dedicated passion for helping students reach their full potential in a supportive and inclusive environmental is essential to this position. While Thiel College gives highest priority to teaching effectiveness, the applicant will be expected to remain current in the field through professional development opportunities such as attendance at related conferences, research, or other scholarly activities. It is expected that the successful candidate will be an active member of the campus community through service on committees and participation in campus events.  A comprehensive employee benefit package including research support and a sabbatical program is provided.

The program is housed in the Environmental Science Department and this position will report directly to the Chair of the Department of Environmental Science.

Applicants should send a cover letter stating interest in the position and a current curriculum vitae or resume with references to employment@thiel.edu (preferred), or to Jennifer Clark, Director of Human Resources, Thiel College, 75 College Avenue, Greenville, PA 16125.

Review of applications will begin March 1, 2020 and continue until the position is filled.
