Director of The Learning Commons

Thiel College is seeking a Director of The Learning Commons.  This position provides the vision and direction for the TLC team.

This is an educational administrator position, which requires specialized knowledge in the area of best practices in learning assistance. The Director manages the budget; develops, supervises, and evaluates employees including full-time and part-time professional staff and student workers; and collaborates with various constituencies to develop, implement, maintain, and assess inclusive programing related to the academic success of students.  This position reports to the Associate Academic Dean for Student Success. 

Education/Experience:

Completion of master’s degree in Counseling, Student Personnel/Student Affairs, Education, or other relevant field; three or more years of related experience in a college learning commons program preferred.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership for all aspects of the TLC development and implementation, including engaging and collaborating with appropriate academic departments, faculty, and staff.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive work environment that supports the professional growth of staff and student workers.
  • Direct ongoing assessment of the TLC including the data collection, monitoring, and evaluating progress and recommending and implementing institutional practices to improve effectiveness.
  • Coordinate Thiel’s PHEAA sponsored ACT 101 program, which serves economically and educationally disadvantaged Pennsylvania students who, in the absence of Act 101 services, would be least likely to achieve academic success.
  • Prepare and manage the TLC budget.
  • Collaborate with other campus offices (Admission, Disabilities Resource Center, Athletics, Career, etc.) to develop programing that supports recruitment and retention efforts. 
  • Strictly honor the privacy, security and confidentiality of student records and other sensitive information according to appropriate state, federal and college regulations, policies, and procedures.
  •  Perform other duties as assigned.
