Didactic Principal Faculty

Thiel College seeks vibrant faculty members to serve as principal faculty with didactic teaching, academic advising, admissions responsibilities, and service expectations to the program, the College, and the profession, which is scheduled to begin in the summer of 2021.

Envisioned with multiple pathways, most notably with a 5-year accelerated and blended Baccalaureate/ Master’s degree for Thiel students, as well as graduates from other institutions.

A dedicated passion for helping students reach their full potential in a supportive and inclusive diverse environment is essential to this position.  Responsibilities include teaching, advising, student supervision, and professional development.  While Thiel College gives highest priority to teaching effectiveness, the faculty will be expected to remain current in the field through professional development opportunities such as attendance at related conferences, research, or other scholarly activities. A comprehensive employee benefit package including research support and a sabbatical program is provided.

The Principal Faculty will collaborate with the program director, PA faculty, and staff to support the program’s mission and ensure compliance with ARC-PA accreditation standards.

These are positions that will report to the Program Director and will work closely with students and program faculty and staff. The program runs year round with summer teaching opportunities available.  The program is dedicated to allotting time and resources for the professional development of faculty and staff.  Up to one clinical day per week provided by the program.  Salary and rank for the position is commensurate with experience and qualifications. 

Minimum Qualifications: 

The successful candidate will preferably have 1-3 years of teaching experience in a higher education setting, demonstrate effective communication and collaborative skills in a team-oriented environment, and a demonstrate a history of successful time management.

Requirements for PA applicant: 

  • A master’s degree from an ARC-PA accredited program
  • Current NCCPA certification
  • Current license or eligibility for licensing as a physician assistant in the State of Pennsylvania
  • Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience preferred
  • Program evaluation and student assessment experience and demonstrated ability to comply with accreditation standards related to evaluation and assessment

Requirements for Non-PA applicant:

  • MD, DO, PhD or EdD, CRNP
  • Program evaluation and student assessment experience and demonstrated ability to comply with accreditation standards related to evaluation and assessment

Essential Functions:

  • Teach didactic courses in the areas of clinical medicine and diagnostic data and interpretation
  • Assist with student academic advising
  • Supervise students in didactic courses and activities
  • Assist with admission, application review and interviews
  • Assist with ARC-PA accreditation activities
  • Maintain licensure and/or certification
