The Department of Business and Accounting at Thiel College announces a search for a Chair of the Business and Accounting Department.
Open rank, this leadership position will work closely with the faculty and academic affairs to enhance the department’s undergraduate programs and open new strategic directions in graduate education and continuing education. The Department of Business and Accounting at Thiel College has a long and successful history of student success, with alumni excelling at Fortune 500 corporations, national accounting firms, and as business owners and entrepreneurs. The College seeks a positive and innovative leader who will work with the Business and Accounting faculty, alumni, campus stakeholder groups, and regional business leaders to craft the next version of impactful programs and student experiences in Business. Advancing the College’s strategic plan, Thiel 2021: Student Success, the successful candidate will develop a plan for program growth and excellence.
The successful candidate will have teaching experience in undergraduate and graduate programs and knowledge of curricular innovation and design, including a variety of delivery platforms – classroom-based, hybrid, and online. Priorities are the launch of a fifth-year MBA program and degree-completion programs in collaboration with regional two-year institutions. This position reports to the Vice President for Academic Affairs, is a member of the Dean’s Council and works closely with all departments and offices on campus to ensure student and program success. Collaboration with Marketing and Admissions will be key to strengthen the College’s market position, attract prospective students through innovative programs, and increase the enrollment of talented and motivated students.
The chair will teach in an area of specialization and, occasionally, in Thiel’s first-year seminar program. It is also expected that the chair will remain maintain professional and/or scholarly activities in Business, Business Education, or a related field. The teaching expectations will be balanced against the chair’s leadership and administrative responsibilities.
Successful candidates will have earned an advanced degree (PhD or DBA preferred; MBA with professional experience accepted), and five or more years of experience in higher education and/or significant leadership in a business or industry setting. Academic rank and salary will be commensurate with credentials and experience.
