The English Department of Thiel College invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position beginning in August 2020.
Ideal candidates will present teaching experience in composition and rhetoric and expertise in overseeing student writing. The teaching assignment is 12 credits/semester across a variety of courses, including college writing, digital rhetoric, professional writing, creative writing, advanced composition, and courses in the Dietrich Honors Institute curriculum. Thiel offers a highly personalized learning environment with small class sizes, especially in writing-intensive courses. Candidates who can demonstrate pedagogical practices that are inclusive of students of diverse backgrounds and interests are encouraged to apply. Experience working with first-generation students is especially important. Additional responsibilities include student advising and mentoring, departmental service, and college-wide governance. Candidates should exhibit an appreciation of the liberal arts college tradition and a desire to strengthen the College’s professional and creative writing programs. A Ph.D. in Rhetoric and Composition or related field is required
