Dr. Dane S. Claussen, James Pedas Professor of Media, Communication & Public Relations at Thiel College, presents on the symbiotic relationship between the Protestant Reformation, starting in 1517, and the development of the European printing and publishing industry, which is usually tied to Johannes Gutenberg's printing of the Bible in the 1450s. Printing/publishing slowly grew in its first decades, but it was demand for Protestant literature, in every European language, that caused the industry to boom in the 16th and 17th centuries. Martin Luther was a major factor in the industry's growth until his death in 1546. Dr. Dane Claussen tells the story with fascinating and sometimes humorous stories and details.
