Strategic Management Class Works With Local Company and Alumnus


On Friday, Sept. 7, Prof. Angelo Giannini’s strategic management class toured Ilsco Extrusions, Inc. in Greenville, Pa. This semester, the class will work with John Thigpen ’86, Ilsco’s general manager, to perform a cost benefit analysis and create a business plan linked to leasing a portion of the existing factory to an outside company.

The class project manager is senior Jonathan Hogan and the team leaders are seniors Alyssa Chine, Ryan Dixon and Andrew Garrett.

Someone removed the overhead projector, cart and extension cord from Bly Lecture Hall. A Tuesday morning class was greatly inconvenienced by the absence of this equipment. The unit’s A-V code is OU-28. Does anyone know of its whereabouts?

Homecoming Parade Route Announced

The 2012 Thiel College Homecoming Parade will travel through the streets of Greenville beginning at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 29.

The parade route is as follows: Starting point: Riverside Park. Turn right onto Alan Avenue; proceed onto North Race Street. Turn left onto Main Street; turn left onto College Avenue and will proceed past the main College entrance before turning left down Ridgeway Ave. Ending point: Ridgeway Ave.

Traffic along the parade route will be affected beginning at 11:30 a.m. The parade precedes the Thiel homecoming football game versus Waynesburg University. Kickoff is at 1:30 p.m. For more information on the Homecoming parade, please contact Barbara Blue in the Office of Student Life at ext. 2192.

Community and Military Personnel Day/Admissions Band Day

Saturday, Sept. 22, beginning at 1:30 a.m.
This year’s event will feature booths staffed by local community organizations and groups and a "Mobile Vet Center." The mobile center is hosted by counselors from the Erie Vet Center who can talk to veterans about their wartime experiences and the center’s readjustment services. Thiel will face Washington & Jefferson College during the football game, which kicks off at 1:30 p.m.

Student musicians from local high school marching bands also will be on campus for the admissions "Band Day" visit day and will perform during half-time with the Thiel Tomcat Marching Pride.

A tailgate lunch buffet is available to Community Day attendees for $5 per person.

Any active or retired military personnel with military ID or in uniform will receive free admission to the Thiel football game. Partial proceeds from the event will benefit the Erie Vet Center.

Con Spirito Chamber Music Concert Series Presents the Jasper String Quartet
