Thiel Fund March Madness Continues!


March Madness!

Stephanie Wilson with her prize The second round of "playoffs" takes place this Friday, March 16. Congratulations to the remaining teams: Faculty, College Advancement/President’s Office, Athletics and IT/Auxiliary Services! After 4:30 p.m. on Friday, all donors will be counted and we will announce the advancing teams on Monday.

Also, a reminder that current Thiel Fund donors (those who have given from July 1, 2011 to present) are entered into our weekly Wednesday Winner prize drawings. Congratulations to today’s winner, Stephanie Wilson! She received a $50 gift card to the Gallery Grille.

Habitat for Humanity/Prince of Peace Canned Foods & Paper Products Drive


Simply e-mail thielcollegehabitat@yahoo.com if you’d like to donate and a student representative will come to you and pick up your donation. Nonperishable canned foods, paper towels, paper plates and napkins are needed most. They will be accepting donations until March 30.

March Students of the Month Announced


Students of the Month at Thiel College are selected by faculty vote from among upper-class students with superior grade point averages.


Two seniors, Kristen Moreland and Evan Krizon, were chosen as the Students of the Month at Thiel College for March 2012.

Moreland is an accounting, business administration and fine arts major and an English minor. She is a member of Sigma Tau Delta (English honorary) and the editorial board of The Phoenix, the Thiel College arts and literary magazine. A native of Dover, Ohio, Moreland also is a starting pitcher for the Thiel College softball team.


Krizon is an applied physics and chemistry major who has been honored with many awards, including the American Chemical Society Undergraduate Award in Inorganic Chemistry, Thiel Achievement Award and the ACS Penn-Ohio Border Section Award, among others.

He is active in his own original research as well, including a Research Experience for Undergraduates Fellowship through the National Science Foundation, and is currently researching dark matter. He serves as a supplemental instruction leader, peer tutor and laboratory assistant for several classes and labs. A native of Franklin, Pa., Krizon serves in leadership roles in the Thiel Christian Fellowship and Phi Theta Phi fraternity.

Notice to Employees Paid on the Biweekly Payroll:


In order to meet the data entry and processing deadline for the pay period ending March 17, 2012 (pay date of March 23, 2012), it is necessary that we receive all employee timesheets and department time records no later than 10 a.m. on Friday, March 16, 2012.
Recognizing that the pay period does not officially end until Saturday, March 17, please submit all hours (work, vacation, holiday, etc.) as scheduled for March 4 through March 17, and submit any adjustments in the following pay period. Timesheets not submitted by the adjusted deadline will be processed in the following pay period. Please call Payroll at ext. 2004 with any questions.

Kids Night with the Tomcats


Saturday, April 21, 6-9 p.m.
Rissell-Schreyer Dome

Enjoy a night off while your kids play soccer, football, relay races and obstacle courses; bounce on fun inflatables; or participate in coloring and crafts with Thiel student-athletes and coaches in the Rissell-Schreyer Dome. This event is open to children 3 to 12 years old and secure drop-off and pick-up for children will be provided. Cost is $5 per child if registering before April 15; $7 per child after April 15 or at the door. Contact Angie Zeuch, head women’s basketball coach with questions or to register.
