More than 80 college and career representatives scheduled to attend fair

More than 80 colleges, universities and technical schools are scheduled to participate in the Mercer County Guidance Counselors College Fair from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 6 in Thiel College’s Rissell-Beeghly Gymnasia.

New events get Homecoming 2016 off to a running start

The Color Dash 5K and National Thiel Spirit Day started Homecoming 2016 week. More than 300 runners participated in Sunday's Color Dash. As part of Tuesday’s National Thiel Spirit Day, students, alumni and staff posted pictures on social media using #tc150, which led to thousands of views and hundreds of likes on Facebook and Instagram.

From 6-8 tonight, College alumni will share their favorite stories from past generations during Thiel History Time, which is being sponsored by St. Paul’s: A Continuing Care Community. The event is in the Sawhill-Georgian Room of the Howard Miller Student Center.

Homecoming Weekend begins Friday with registration for the weekend and several other events that culminate with the Sesquicentennial Gala and silent auction.

The groundbreaking for the new Science Connector facility is Saturday. Other traditional events on Saturday include the Alumni Awards Ceremony, the parade and football game against Washington & Jefferson.

President Traverso recognizes Dustin Slomainy for his service

President Susan Traverso offered good wishes and the College’s appreciation for the service of Dustin Slomainy. Today was the last day of classes for Slomainy. He is deploying with the U.S. Army Reserves for his third tour of duty in Kuwait. Slomainy is a 2005 graduate of Valley High School in New Kensington, Pa. 

DRC offers tips for dealing with Autism Spectrum Disorder

Disability Resource Center Director Tami Micsky has compiled an information sheet for faculty and staff members to consult when dealing with students with Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Fink, Radford named Thiel Learning Commons effort winners

   

Julia Fink ’17 and Camille Radford ’18 were named this month's Thiel Learning Commons Extraordinary Effort Award winners.

Fink is a business administration, math and actuarial studies triple major from Andover, Ohio. Radford is an English major from Baltimore.

Thiel College welcomes:

Free employee flu shots

Thiel College will offer free influenza vaccinations to all employees from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5 in the Rudisill Room of the Howard Miller Student Center. UPMC Health System staff will administer the vaccinations. 

For employees who miss this time, alternate days and times will be available at the UPMC Urgent Care facility located along North Hermitage Road in Hermitage. The schedule will be announced when it is confirmed.

Thiel Fortnightly Club Autumn Fest
Oct. 8 at 5:30 p.m.
Amar Family Barn, 1111 Rutledge Road, Transfer, Pa.

Thiel employees and their families are invited for soup, autumn treats and good company. Guests are asked to bring a dessert or side dish and their own beverages. Mulled wine and apple cider will be available. A $2 per adult participation fee will be donated to the Fortnightly Scholarship Fund and be used to offset the cost of the party. The party will be held in a barn. Guests are asked to dress accordingly. If weather permits, a bonfire will be held.

Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6 p.m.

Aikido classes are held Tuesdays and Thursdays during the academic year except on holidays and college breaks.

Greenville H.S. Band Booster Spaghetti Dinner
Friday from 4-6 p.m.
Greenville High School cafeteria

Cost for the Greenville Band Booster Association fall spaghetti dinner is $6 for adults, $4 for students, and free for children three and under.  Take out is available.

Tomcat Tributes are designed to recognize the teamwork Thiel College employees exhibit each day. Employees can nominate co-workers for recognition in four categories (Random Act of Kindness, Going the Extra Mile, Had a Great Idea, Just Because).
