Campus comes together to recognize Dr. Jennifer Griffin

On June 10, the lights were dimmed to give the Sawhill-Georgian Room the feel of a music club as members of the campus community gathered to send off longtime faculty and staff member Jennifer Griffin, Ph.D.

More than 50 friends, family and co-workers came together to offer their good wishes to Griffin, who left Thiel College after 23 years to become the first Dean of APEX (advising, planning, and experiential learning) at The College of Wooster. Professor of Philosophy and Department Chair Arthur White Jr., Ph.D., served as emcee and musician for the event. Several faculty and staff related  memories from their time working with Griffin.

College community invited to celebrate Kurt Ashley Day

A farewell reception to congratulate, recognize and wish Vice President for Technology and Marketing Kurt Ashley well is from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 28 in Weyers Lounge.

After five years at Thiel College, all on the President's Cabinet, Ashley is leaving to become the Vice President for Information Technology at Elmhurst College in July.

Special Note

My Dear Thiel Community:

Thank you so much for your very kind expressions of concern, healing and recovery for my husband, Donald, who underwent an emergency laminectomy on June 7. He’s recuperating and doing physical and occupational therapy at a rehab facility, and is making steady progress toward what the doctors and we expect to be a full recovery. The sudden nature of this event was initially alarming, to say the least, but a good medical staff and the support of our dear friends and colleagues have been so reassuring.  We are most grateful to the College for the lovely plant and to all of you for your cards, phone calls, emails, and, most especially, your powerful prayers of support and encouragement. We are humbled and so thankful for the gift of your sustaining friendship and good wishes.

With love and gratitude,
Mary Theresa Hall, Ph.D.
